Week 10
Information Analysis
This week we learned new topic which were about the evaluation of Sources, why we must evaluate and the criteria for the evaluation. Since the Internet is ever-growing and countless numbers of information are being put up by many people. Therefore Information may not be reliable. The evaluation of the sources is becoming more important due to this.
There are 7 criteria that need to be considered for evaluating the Internet sources. They are:
- Purpose- We should be aware of the source's objective. It should make its purpose obvious at first. A good source will be used to understand and use which will not make the users confused.
- Scope- What subject does the Source cover? We should know the breadth, depth, time and format of the source. It is necessary that it should have detail description of the concerned topic.
- Authority- The person who holds the power to do whatever he wants with the work. It is necessary to identify the authority and their expertise.Audience- It is necessary to know who the intended users are. It helps in determining the level of the material.
- Information Content- The content is based on accuracy, currency and uniqueness.
- Design and Layout- It should be well organized and logically presented for understanding the information easily. The information contained should be well divided for easy use and navigability. The color style, multimedia and functionality should also be taken into consideration.
- Access/ Work-ability How easy and user friendly are the source? The following aspects are taken into consideration when judging its accessibility, ease of use, search-ability, brows-ability, software reliability, connectivity, cost policy, censorship, language, user support.
- These are summaries of useful criteria for evaluating resources. That's all for this week!

Week 9
practice about the citation, summarize, phrase and reference
During this week, this is on Monday. We went to the library to practice about the citation, summarize, phrase and reference. Our lecturer divided into groups. In my group, we have been selected 2 books; ICT book and economic book. On that day, we have done our exercises on time but there was many times we have to correctly about the citation.
During the lecture, this is on Wednesday. Our lecturer has been explained and did the revision about mid-term test. Actually, I still confusing 1 lesson, there was about referencing and citation. One of the lecturer said that, when we have 2 authors have must spread their names by & can not use and but another lecture said that we must use by and can not use &. Actually, there are same meaning. This one of the reasons in one subject should not teaching by 2 lecturers at the same time and subject.

Week 8
Apply selected tools and strategies to locate information.
During this week, we have been focused on Paraphrasing, Summarizing, Quoting and citation. Actually, Paraphrasing andsummarizing are very similar. Both involve taking ideas. Paraphrasing = to rewrite the paragraphs but we supposed to in our own words, then its will be given the same meaning.
- Summarizing = to rewrite and sum up the meaning of the hole paragraphs, its will be shorter than and include only the main points. In addition, summarizing includes condensing the source material into just a few lines.
- Quotation = the repetition of one expression as part of another one, particularly when the quoted expression is well-known or explicitly attributed by citation to its original source.
- Citation = a reference to a published or unpublished source (not always the original source). More precisely, a citation is an abbreviated alphanumeric expression.

Week 7
CITATION & DOCUMENTING INFORMATION SOURCES.
during this week we learned new topic, which are two types of online journals: those that are found exclusively on the web, and those that are available in both print and electronic form. You are more likely to encounter the first situation.
Everything up to the volume number occurs exactly the same as if you were citing a journal article. However, since the article is online, a “retrieval statement” is required.
Retrieval statements always begin with the word retrieved, offer the full name of the month, date, and year, with commas after the date and after the year, followed by “from” and the URL. Notice how the URL is neither underlined nor blue.
In A P A documentation and in text citation, underlines are not used. To get rid of a hyperlink in MS Word, place your cursor after the last word in the URL and hit the backspace key. This should remove the hyperlink without deleting words. If a URL is long and needs to be divided between two lines, you can break it after a slash or before a period.
Finally, notice that no period appears at the end of an online entry that concludes with a URL. This is so that the wrong address is not accidentally entered into the web browser.
A quick look at the form for journals online and in print. In these situations, you would treat the article as you would for a journal article, except you would include the words “electronic version” in brackets, to indicate that you read and used the electronic form instead of the hard copy.
